The IT industry in emerging economies shows a much greater growth potential than in developed countries, making this sector a niche of big opportunities. In Latin America, SONDA’s main market, the penetration of IT usage is still low, with an average annual IT investment by country of 1.5% of GDP, a figure below the 3.0% that more industrialized economies show on average. Trends such as globalization, market deregulation and free-trade agreements, plus the constant search for cost reductions and efficiency improvements are the principal drivers of the development and incorporation of IT in organizations, both private and public, that through the use of IT solutions can make their operations more efficient. It is expected that Latin America will continue to reduce the gap from industrialized economies, with sustained growth in IT investment as a percentage of GDP, and a special focus on the IT Services segment, particularly IT outsourcing and professional services.
